New Lake Placid resort at more than 50 percent off

Guests at the newly opened High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid, N.Y. have a reason to celebrate the stock market’s lousy performance: For stays from now through December 19, the resort is setting its room rate for the week based on the Dow’s closing the previous Friday.
